a cozy place for two little boys

So I'm not keeping up with the blog all too well, but that's the way life rolls when you have a few little men all competing for your attention. We are currently in a life stage where we are learning to simplify, trying to slow the pace of life a bit and roll with the waves as they come our way.

This week I am working on decluttering the twin boys (2yrs) room. We added two little twin beds and a tall standing vintage dresser and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite rooms. Working with only items we had on hand, it's a bit mis-matched and eclectic but we are just fine with that.

organization inspiration: the kitchen

it all started here.
Not only is Shelley creative and crafty, I love her personal style and she actually makes me WANT (badly!) to be clutter free and organized. I found this tutorial on her pantry remix and although we don't currently have a pantry, found it extremely benefical for reorganizing what we do have: cabinets.

Then I found  this blog all about a mom who'd created a cabinet for all of her little one's things..  and it  was SUPER helpful, I simply altered it to work for our current needs as a baby cabinet. I also asked if I could keep a couple of baby food shipping boxes while buying tiny his food and Whole Foods was more than willing to let me recycle/repurpose them.

So, I set off to turning chaos and clutter into organization and happiness. AND i'll be posting pics of that soon. NEXT naptime! =)

Conquering the chaos...

I'm on a journey from chaos and clutter to organized, simplified, and streamlined. I'll be honest, while I am a freak about "clean" and "germ-free", I can be very cluttery. I collect and keep things that I don't need (or sometimes even want!) because I've got someone to give it to or want to re-purpose it.. but that doesn't happen too much right now. You see, my days are filled with two babies under 9 months old, and that, my friends, is what got the ball rolling. Even on the best of days, it's hard to maintain the things that do have a place. So, with that in mind, and the help of Pinterest to get going, let's conquer clutter together. I'll be sharing some more than honest before and afters, as well as where I found my ideas and design inspiration. I'd LOVE it if you'll share yours too! Let's start in the kitchen...

what we're reading =)

This is an adorable book, and a must read for the littles. REALLY.

Little Pea , by Amy Krause Rosenthal and Jen Corace
is a darling book that takes kids on an adventure where vegetables are dessert and candy
is awfully hard to swallow.  This is a playful story that incorporates, family, food, and fun, and
might just help you convince your toddler that vegetables aren't so bad after all.
(well, peas at least!)

I have read this book countless times to multiple ages and it has been a consistent hit. I first heard it
while attending a storytime at Pottery Barn Kids and knew it would be on my favorites list for when tiny arrived. He loves the pictures, as I expected, and my previous 4 year old charge loved the humor and asked to read it again and again. Worth picking up!

We bought the board books box set, which includes additional titles Little Hoot and Little Oink, which are also darling, but Little Pea is by far my favorite.

a transforming 3 years...

So it's been a VERY long while since I blogged, and life has been changing at a rapid pace. Since my last post back in 2007, (yikes!) I have since married my best friend ,had my first little guy, and become a stay-at-home mommy. So life is now a little more home-body and a little less travel, a little more cuddle and a little less fast-paced, and totally filled with tiny babbles, cozy blankets, and the smell of a autumn candle burning on the counter. And, although I didn't see it coming, I am right where I want to be.
